Crush

The month of September is a blessing for Syracuse University students who crave days off. Thanks to religious holidays and Labor Day, there is only one full week of class this month. The days off are perfect for catching up on work, or for spending more time getting further behind with friends.

The best thing about September’s extra days off is the fact the weather is still beautiful, leaving endless opportunities on how to spend the day. In our younger days, three-day weekends were just that – three days and only three days. But in college, where some classes don’t meet on Fridays, three-day weekends can extend themselves into four, making the amount of days off greater than the amount of work days.

The only bad thing about the three-day weekends is that they come to an end, a very abrupt one, at that. One second it’s almost as if Monday classes don’t exist, and the next second, you realize that after September the next off day is during Thanksgiving Break. Cue images of Sisyphus rolling the rock up that hill, continually falling backwards.

Don’t think of that. For that great mile is still weeks away. Until then, indulge in the fact you may be spending more time in bed than in a classroom.
