Student robbed, left unconscious on Sumner Avenue

A male Syracuse University student was rendered unconscious and robbed on the 800 block of Sumner Avenue early Sunday morning.

The student was walking on Sumner Avenue at 5:15 a.m. when he was approached from behind and choked, according to an email sent to Syracuse University students by the Department of Public Safety. The student lost consciousness and sustained minor injuries. 

He awoke to find his wallet containing ID cards and around $60-80 in cash missing. He later found the wallet on the 800 block of Sumner Avenue.

The student was unable to provide a description of the suspect, and the Syracuse Police Department continues to investigate the case.

DPS is asking individuals who may have witnessed the incident or were in the vicinity of the crime to help identify the suspect.



DPS chief Tony Callisto was not available for comment.
