SU Athletics pulls Ace Hood from Orange Madness

UPDATED: Oct. 13, 10:48 p.m.

Syracuse University Athletics has made the decision to pull musical act Ace Hood from this year’s Orange Madness, University Union announced on Sunday. The rapper, famous for his hit single “Bugatti,” was scheduled to perform at the event on Friday in the Carrier Dome.

SU Athletics approached UU earlier this semester to collaborate with the organization in booking a musical artist for Orange Madness, as UU has relationships with agents, said Mitchell Mason, UU’s public relations director. After UU provided a list of possible performance options, SU Athletics selected Ace Hood to perform a set at the Dome.

Mason said UU is no longer assisting with Orange Madness in a booking capacity this year, but the organization hopes to keep working with SU Athletics for future events.

“We’re very disappointed,” Mason said. “We had to let the artist know, and a lot of students were excited about it. But ultimately, this wasn’t our decision.”

Mason said SU Athletics contacted UU to say it pulled Ace Hood from the event for its own reasons, but would not elaborate.

SU Athletics could not be reach for comment.
