Jim Boehiem's nine-game suspension will start in the nonconference season. Mike Hopkins will coach in his absence.

The NCAA released its decision on Jim Boeheim’s appeal on Thursday afternoon, deciding that the “NCAA Committee on Infractions ‘abused its discretion’ by directing the suspension be served during conference play.”

As a result, the Syracuse head coach will begin his suspension on Saturday when the Orange faces Georgetown. Boeheim will miss the first three conference games as well. Boeheim will not be allowed to have contact with any of his players or coaches during the 37-day suspension.

Here’s a list of the games that Mike Hopkins will coach in Boeheim’s absence:

Dec. 5 at Georgetown
Dec. 8 vs. Colgate
Dec. 13 at St. John’s
Dec. 19 vs. Cornell
Dec. 22 vs. Montana State
Dec. 27 vs. Texas Southern
Dec. 30 at Pittsburgh
Jan. 2 at Miami
Jan 5 vs. Clemson
