After a strong showing at the Big Ten-ACC Challenge in Atlanta this past weekend, Syracuse pitcher AnnaMarie Gatti was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week. This is the first conference honor of her career.
The sophomore saw the mound three times this weekend, earning one win, one loss and a save.
In the two games against Ohio State, Gatti held the Buckeyes to just three hits in eight innings of play.
In Saturday’s contest, the right-hander tossed a complete game shutout against the Buckeyes, giving up just two hits in seven innings in a 1-0 duel.
On Sunday, Gatti wasn’t called on until the seventh inning. She came into the game in relief of senior Jocelyn Cater and surrendered one hit, earning the save in the 3-2 game. The duo allowed just three hits total in the seven inning contest.
After Sunday’s save, Gatti’s ERA moved to 2.45, the second best on the SU staff. Her 25.2 innings pitched are the most of any Orange pitcher this season by 8.2 innings, and she leads the team with 10 strikeouts.
