In her senior year, Briana Day reached 1,000 career points and 1,000 rebounds.

Briana Day signed a training camp contract with the San Antonio Stars on Monday afternoon.

The former Syracuse center wasn’t drafted in the WNBA’s 36-player draft last Thursday night. Day will be the third member from this year’s SU team to participate in a training camp. She joins Brittney Sykes, who was taken with the seventh pick in the draft by the Atlanta Dream, and Alexis Peterson, who was drafted 15th overall by the Seattle Storm.

Kayla Alexander, the all-time leading scorer in Orange history, currently plays for San Antonio.

“I want to take advantage of every opportunity that comes my way,” Day said in an SU Athletics press release. “I am excited to start my professional basketball career with the San Antonio Stars.”

Day averaged 9.5 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game over her career. This past year she upped her scoring to a career-high 12.9 points, scoring at least 20 points on four different occasions.

The Raleigh, North Carolina, native is the all-time leading rebounder in program history and is part of the 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds club.

“I think she definitely would be great for a team that just needed some backup at the rim in terms of some length,” basketball analyst LaChina Robinson said before the draft. “Sometimes got in a little foul trouble out on the perimeter, but she has that ability, quickness, to help on that end of the floor.”
