Girard became the state’s all-time leading scorer on Tuesday night. Still just a junior at Glens Falls, Girard scored 44 points on Tuesday. It tied his season-low scoring output in a campaign where he’s averaging nearly 50 points per game. By the night’s end, he was at 2,952 points for his high school career and had surpassed current Indiana Pacers wing Lance Stephenson to become New York’s scoring king.
The 6-foot-1 guard has received 17 scholarship offers, per 247sports.com. He’s already been offered by Syracuse’s Atlantic Coast Conference counterpart Boston College along with the Mike Hopkins-coached Washington Huskies.
Girard attends the same high school that former BYU star and first-round NBA Draft pick Jimmer Fredette attended. BYU has offered Girard, as well. Fredette and Girard worked out together last summer, per the New York Post.
The Albany City Rocks AAU program is where Fredette and Girard played their summer basketball. There, Girard’s spent time playing with current Syracuse-commit Buddy Boeheim and fellow Class of 2019 Syracuse offeree Isaiah Stewart.
