Former Georgia State guard Lucas Taylor has committed to Syracuse, he announced on social media Tuesday. Taylor spent 2021-23 as a reserve at Wake Forest before transferring to the Panthers prior to the 2023-24 season.

In his lone season at Georgia State, Taylor averaged 14.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists while contributing 30.7 minutes per game. Taylor shot 40.7% from the field on 13.4 shots per contest and 35.4% from 3 on 5.8 attempts per game.

Taylor is the Orange’s fourth incoming transfer, joining Eddie Lampkin (Colorado), Jyare Davis (Delaware) and Jaquan Carlos (Hofstra). SU’s backcourt looks significantly different than it did last season, as Judah Mintz (declared for the NBA Draft), Quadir Copeland (McNeese State) and Justin Taylor (James Madison) are no longer with the program.

JJ Starling is locked in as a backcourt starter while Carlos will likely start at point guard. Taylor is expected to compete for backup minutes with Chance Westry, Kyle Cuffe Jr. and incoming freshman Elijah Moore.
