Juice Jam 2015

Juice Jam sees lower attendance, fewer hospitalizations

Both attendance and hospitalizations from intoxication were significantly lower at this year’s Juice Jam Music Festival than last year’s.

At the festival’s height, only around 7,500 people attended, even though tickets sold out, said John Sardino, associate chief of law enforcement and the community policing division at the Syracuse University Department of Public Safety. Last year, around 10,000 people attended Juice Jam.

Sardino said he suspects the decline in attendance was due to the weather, which was overcast and chilly.

Three people were transported to nearby hospitals for intoxication, Sardino said, which is down from the 10 people that were taken to the hospital last year.

There were no criminal arrests either this year or last year.

Big Sean, BØRNS, Matt and Kim, iLoveMakonnen, Oliver Heldens and SNBRN performed this year at Skytop Field on South Campus.

Overall, Sardino said he saw students having fun and that the festival was successful.
