Recognize US, a student group, organized a sit-in at Schine Student Center early Friday morning and demanded that Syracuse University expel students who used racial slurs, including anti-Semitic language, in a video of Theta Tau fraternity members.
At the sit-in, which started just before the start of SU’s Spring Reception, an event for newly accepted students, protesters presented a list of demands to SU Chancellor Kent Syverud. Among other points on the list, Recognize US demanded that the university organize a town hall with the chancellor, Board of Trustees, administrators and deans by Wednesday at 11:59 p.m.
