Syracuse added a third player to its 2018 recruiting class on Sunday, Robert Braswell, according to 247 Sports. Braswell retweeted a tweet congratulating him for the commitment, as well. The 6-foot-9 forward from Blythewood (S.C.) High School also was considering Oklahoma State and UMass in his final three. The commitment came after Braswell visited the Syracuse campus on May 8.
“They’ll definitely put me in the position to score,” Braswell told 247 Sports. “I’m long and slim like a few of other players they’ve had which will help them a lot in their zone.”
In 247’s composite ranks, he’s the No. 170 player in his class and the No. 29 ranked power forward. He joins Jalen Carey and Buddy Boeheim in SU’s ‘18 class. A scholarship was available to him in part because Darius Bazley chose to head to the NBA G-League instead of Syracuse.
Braswell isn’t only a basketball standout. He recently won his second-straight South Carolina state championship in the high jump, clearing 6-foot-10 to win the competition this year.
