Syracuse added a fourth player to its 2018 recruiting class. Quincy Guerrier, a four-star 6-7 forward from Thetford Academy (Vermont) announced his verbal commitment to the Orange Wednesday night in a live announcement on television.
Guerrier is ranked No. 48 in the nation, according to 247Sports. The Montreal native chose Syracuse over Oregon and Illinois, the two other schools in his top three. Guerrier visited SU on Sept. 21, where he played with the team in practice. He said he knew some of the players already from his unofficial visit, including Oshae Brissett and Howard Washington.
“I was his host when he came here on his visit. We’re close friends … I’ve known him for a while,” Brissett said. “I know, I feel like he’s gonna come here. And he’s only gonna help the team out next year, so I’m excited.”
Guerrier joins two guards, Brycen Goodine and Joe Girard III, and center John Bol Ajak in the class of 2019. He plans to graduate high school in December and enroll at SU for the spring semester.
“I’m getting buckets, that’s what I do,” Guerrier said last week on Instagram live. “All of the schools recruiting me, that’s what they want me to do, put the ball in the basket.”
