Two students report assault at party on Clarendon Street

A Syracuse University student and SUNY-ESF student reported three suspects assaulted them during a party at their home on the 200 block of Clarendon Street Friday morning.

The suspects were not students and were not invited to the party. They became aggressive and assaulted the victims after being asked to leave at 2:21 a.m., according to a Syracuse Police Department news release.

The students suffered injuries to the head and face, but refused medical attention, according to the release.

SPD arrested Justin Hatter, 22, of the 100 block of Cook Avenue, Syracuse, and charged him with third-degree assault and resisting arrest after determining he was involved in the crime, according to the release. He is being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center.

The other male suspects fled south on Clarendon Street toward Euclid Avenue, but there is no clear description of these suspects, according to a Department of Public Safety email sent to all SU students.

There has been a trend of crime committed by non-students at off-campus and South Campus parties, according to the email. DPS is urging students to call for assistance if an uninvited person is at a party on-campus or SPD if off-campus.
