Two robberies, one attempted robbery occur near SU late Saturday, early Sunday

Two robberies and an attempted robbery involving Syracuse University students occurred late Saturday into early Sunday morning, according to a Department of Public Safety notice.

The first robbery happened at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, when four suspects robbed two SU College of Law students cutting through Oakwood Cemetery at gunpoint, according to a Syracuse Police Department news release.

The suspects were described as black males between 16 and 22 years old, 5 feet, 9 inches and all were wearing hooded sweatshirts, according to the release.

On Sunday, a student reported that three suspects tried to rob him at 3:29 a.m. on the 700 block of Ostrom Avenue, according to the DPS notice.

The suspects were described as black, 5 feet, 10 to 11 inches and in their late 20s, according to the notice. The student ran away and was not injured.

At 3:45 a.m., a student was robbed by three male suspects in the parking lot of 703 Walnut Ave., according to the notice. The student was threatened by one suspect with a knife and suffered a scraped knee.

The suspects were described as black, 5 feet, 8 to 10 inches, between 16 and 19 years old and about 150 to 160 pounds, according to the notice. One suspect was wearing a large, puffy jacket while there is not clothing description for the other two.

It appears that the two Sunday robberies may be related but they do not appear to be related to the robbery in Oakwood cemetery, according to the SPD news release.

Anyone with information is asked to contact SPD or DPS.
