Freshman safety Ford leaves Syracuse
Freshman safety Dontez Ford has decided to leave Syracuse.
Ford redshirted this past season, though he came to the Orange after having a strong high school career. He helped lead Sto-Rox High School to a 12-1 record and a WPIAL Championship his senior season. He was also named to the The Pittsburgh Tribune’s “Terrific 25.”
On Friday, Ford tweeted, “Last hours in Syracuse… Time to get these finals out of the way and get out of here!”
The 6-foot-2, 198-lb. Ford then tweeted on Saturday that he would not take questions about transferring via Twitter.
Ford is the second safety to leave the team this year, after Shu Mungwa left the team at the start of training camp.
