DPS arrests suspect in Bird Library laptop thefts
Syracuse University Department of Public Safety officers arrested an individual for burglary, grand larceny and other violations of the New York State Penal Law early Tuesday morning.
The individual was arrested after he stole two laptop computers in E.S. Bird Library at about 2:15 a.m., according to a public safety update email sent to all students Tuesday afternoon. DPS officers arrested the individual within minutes of the incident and he has been booked into jail. He is currently being investigated for links to other recent larcenies on Main Campus.
In the email, DPS officials reminded SU community members to not leave property unattended at any time.
Individuals who have been the victim of a larceny this or last semester and have not reported it are encouraged to call DPS, according to the email.
